Mental Health and these Scary Times

I have found that being home for the past three weeks, has been quite taxing on my mental health. I have had much anxiety and tenseness. In an effort to improve my mental health, I have removed Facebook from my phone and computer. I am no longer watching the news or reading the news.

As a matter of fact, no social media at all right now save for YouTube. But YouTube is not exactly social media in the same sense as Facebook, Twitter or Reddit, among others. I just watch videos nonstop on YouTube to pass time.

Point I'm making is, I have found myself doing a lot better. Right now, I essentially only care about two things regarding the current state of affairs: What our President says, and what my Governor says. I have resigned myself to only check the news once a week, to see what our President/Governor are saying to keep me informed.

Staying away from all the negativity has been very helpful. I am so fortunate that I am able to work home, and that my position at my university is critical to operations. The team I work for is Online Studies, and I work at a college university, so just let the name of that department and job setting settle in for a moment. You can all see why I still have work. I am fortunate that I have job security during these times.

The world is actually a lot better when you disconnect a little bit I've noticed. While I have no intention of deleting my Facebook, I may simply stop "actively" using it permanently as time goes on.

Be safe everyone. Sending love and peace to you all!
