This made me smile. One of my students did an assignment where they referenced MMO's (Massively Multiplayer Online Game). Since I have played World of Warcraft off and on over the years, as well as Final Fantasy XIV, I left this student feedback in their assignment where I correctly guessed the MMO they were referencing.
This student may not remember me by name or appearance in the years/decades to come, but they will remember that one college teacher that was also a gamer, and totally understood every bit of lingo they used in their assignment. For me, that connection and impact is what it's all about! Education and the noble pursuit of knowledge does not mean you have to become a "stiff" and/or "boring" person. Anyone can be an educator or pursue an education if they have the drive and passion. Hopefully, this connection I made with my student helped to ever-so-slightly chip away at the "education/learning is uncool" stereotype. One person at a time! 😁
